Expert Motorcycle Training Serving Red Deer and Surrounding Area
AMT’s Basic Motorcycle Course is an excellent way for new or experienced riders to gain the skills they need to be safe on the road. As well, we will prepare you for the class six road test. We begin with very basic of maneuvers such as starting and stopping and then move up to more advanced maneuvers such as collision avoidance.
Some riders may not complete the course in the allotted time and may need more practice. There is a possibility that you could join another course depending scheduling and the number of students registered.*
Those who have absolutely no experience on a motorcycle and no experience with a standard transmission are encouraged to take the Introductory Motorcycle Course. (NOTE: You must already hold a minimum Class 5 license!)
Course will consist of: Approximately 18 hours class room and on motorcycle training and a road ride.
Students will need to supply a D.O.T. or SNELL approved helmet, sturdy gloves, denim or leather jacket, jeans (no shorts) and sturdy boots or shoes that at least cover the ankle. As well, courses go rain or shine, so having access rain gear can be beneficial. If you are using an open face helmet you must also have proper eye protection (designer sun glasses from the local department store won’t cut it on the road ride). See the “Gear” tab at the top of the page for more information about what to wear.
In regards to helmets, it is rare that someone comes in with a full face helmet and decides at the end of the course to get a ‘shorty’ half helmet. On the other hand, people regularly come in with half helmets (because that’s what they were sold at the dealership) and vow at the end of the course to get a three quarter or full face helmet.
